This newly blended and labelled Sacred Hill Reserve Chardonnay is just the start! With fruit from the iconic Rifleman’s Chardonnay Vineyard, this 2021 is a beacon of quality and value! It gets the full suite of winemaking including 60% barrel fermentation/aging with a generous 40% new oak in the mix. It’s aged sur lie (on its yeast lees) for 10 months and regularly stirred to enhance the weight of flavour, complexity, richness... you’re getting way more Chardonnay for the money than you could rightly expect or hope for!
Smells
Seductive and engaging aromas of buttered popcorn, golden peach, pink grapefruit, toasted sourdough and vanilla oak.
Tastes
A wonderful drinking Chardonnay with layers of fruit complexity… peach, nectarine, red apples, hints of pear. Judicious use of oak enhances the fruit flavours, adding vanilla and spice complexities, fine buttery richness with excellent structure, superb winemaking. Rounded tastes of pink grapefruit emerge in the perfect acid balance. A Chardonnay that will impress at a head scratching low price.
