Description
Jason and Anna Flowerday are ex-patriated Australians who have embraced the Kiwi wine scene, being leading advocates of biodynamic and organic viticulture. When they bought Te Whare Ra in the early 2000s, they inherited some of Marlborough's oldest vines - and they are now making wines that are considered to be the foremost examples of their style in NZ. There Single Vineyard Chardonnay is 100% handpicked and 100% barrel fermented with only 388 cases made, its textural and complex on release and become fuller and softer with 5-7 years of bottle age.
Smells
Mealy, nutty, toasty nuances, with tropical and peach aromas.
Tastes
Creamy and full-bodied, with baked bread, grilled nuts and nectarine flavours flooding the complex palate. Mineral notes carry the creamy, fulsome finish, vanilla bean and caramel, providing extra 'yum factor' to this refined wine. Imagine crispy roasted chicken and a glass of TWR Chardonnay, a match made in heaven.
