Vidal Estate’s winemaking philosophy is to produce wines that reflect the site where they’re grown, in a style that’s flavoursome yet balanced. Fruit for this 2022 Reserve Sauvignon Blanc comprises grapes growing in Wairau and Awatere Valleys. These sites show a range of soil types from alluvial over a papa pan, silt over gravels and stony gravels. Attention to vine and soil health has contributed to optimum flavour and fruit condition. This classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc has produced a wine with great purity, concentration, and definition. The premium fruit was gently pressed and fermented at cool temperatures to retain crispness and purity – small portions were aged on lees to add complexity and mid-pallet weight. This is a pungent powerhouse Marlborough Sauvignon and where the 2021 was awarded Cuisine 5 stars, and Best Buy and we know the 2022 will follow hotly in the 2021’s footsteps.

Pungent aromas of passionfruit, ripe tropical fruit, and sweet candied lemon peel

Fresh, pure, long and concentrated with bold notes of passionfruit pith, sweet lemon, and slight minerality all comprising to make a very enjoyable, complex wine. Superb drinking now through 2024 and will match with mussels or fresh catch of the day.
