Nautilus Estate

Nautilus Estate is one of Marlborough’s finest producers, the winery's strengths being Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Methode Traditionnelle bubblies. Under Hill-Smith family ownership (long-time owners of Aussie icon Yalumba) they constructed a state-of-the-art, gravity-driven winemaking facility dedicated solely to the production of premium Pinot Noir and Methode Traditionnelle – the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere and as impressive as anything you'll see anywhere in New Zealand.

Winemaker Clive Jones, has made huge strides with top Pinot Noir, the Nautilus wine now labelled Southern Valleys to reflect its higher quality terroir. His skills have been developed across 20+ years with Nautilus, which included spending the 2004 vintage at Domaine Dujac in Morey-Saint-Denis. Clive has access to a range of vineyards in the Awatere, Wairau and Omaka Valleys, planted in a variety of Pinot Noir clones, giving Nautilus the full breadth of Marlborough terroir from which to craft their premium expressions.

Recent highlights for Nautlius include winning the Air New Zealand Champion Trophy for Methode Traditionnelle and the release of their new barrel-influenced Sauvignon Blanc, the Paper Nautilus.
