Bairn Twist

The Bairn... with a twist!

Fewer cultures are more akin to a good celebration than the Irish. Which is why we thought we'd do an Irish Cocktail tribute for St Paddy's Day this Saturday.

In the world of classic cocktails, the Bairn is actually a Scottish drink, as it would typically use Scotch. The name is also Scottish and translates as small child... perhaps due to its strength as you'll certainly want to nurse it!

So, to give this drink a touch of the craic, we're going to use Irish Whiskey instead. Using Jameson Black Barrel really adds a smokiness to the drink, and the addition of orange liqueur (dry curacao) marries well with the butterscotch & spice characters.

Ingredients:

60ml Jameson Black Barrel

15ml Dry Curacao

2 dashes of Angostura Bitters

Stir over ice, strain into rocks glass with ice balls. Garnish with orange peel (flamed if you're feeling adventurous).

Slainte!
