M.Chapoutier is one of France's most admired wine brands globally. With a legacy dating back as far as 1808, you'd be hard pressed to find many wine connoisseurs that haven't heard of this exceptional family business.
The Rhone Valley in Southern France stretches for 250 kilometres, and its vineyards wind around the fluid axis of the Rhone river. In the region's picturesque capital of Tain-l'Hermitage, you will find the M.Chapoutier winery at the foot of the hill of Hermitage. A hill that has become a world recognised symbol for these iconic premium wines and the brands established there...none more so than Chapoutier.
Eighth generation Winemaker Michel has been at the helm since the late seventies when his Father retired. Never one to merely 'inherit' duties, Michel is a man of infinite curiosity and energy. Not wishing to stand still or take things for granted, his success has come from eternally pushing boundaries and questioning tradition.
Michel understands that a winemaker's influence is just that - an influence....he can only do as much as the terroir provides for him and so to master wine-making, you must understand the terroir intimately! It was Michel's total commitment to this belief that saw the company adopt the practices of Bio-dynamics in 1990. They have been listening to the land and working with the terroir ever since!
This Belleruche Rosé is a step up from the hugely popular Pays d'Oc Rosé. It is part of the M.Chapoutier Tradition Range - key stone wines that represent so much about their brand and family ethos. These wines are made in easy drinking styles, with a wide array of tastes and aromas, to take you on a journey through the appellations they represent.
We jumped at the chance to be the exclusive Retailer for this wine as our customers simply cannot get enough quality French Rose, and this example is a classic representation of the Rhone region.
Made with fruit grown on the right bank of the Rhone offering sandy loam soils, perfect for a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault grapes - typical for the Rosé of this area. Wine-making intervention is kept to a minimum to preserve the wines natural aromatics, and as a result it is fresh, delicate and fruity, with the hallmark dry finish that leaves you wanting another glass...made for smoked salmon, fish or an antipasto platter.
2019 was a challenging vintage....it threw everything it had at the winemakers - early frost, rain, hail storms...and then it became unbearably hot even ending in fire in some places through the region. However, the expertise and relentless belief in terroir allowed the team at M.Chapoutier an opportunity to work with the land and that's what they did to craft what resulted in a sublime vintage quality wise. This is one the first of the 2019 French Rosé to arrive here and it has already garnered a 90/100 score from Wine Enthusiast. We predict there will be many more to come based on the quality of this wine - c'est magnifique!
So treat yourself to this sublime Rhone Rosé from the wine-making genius of M.Chapoutier. We may not be able to travel to France right now, but this wine will certainly take you on a different type of journey and all for less than twenty dollars!
