Description

A family venture, started by Royce and Sue Mckean in Waipara, North Canterbury where they planted Sauvignon and Pinot Gris initially. Tiki, a family name on Royce's side and they knew from the beginning this was the name for their wines. Being of Maori descent they are committed to guiding Maori principles of guardianship, protection and preservation of the earth. An intense style often endemic to Waipara as long hang time is essential to ripe grapes in this cool climate region resulting in intense flavours.

Smells

mature rose blossoms, wild cherries with cinnamon quills and other brown spices.

Tastes

a very pretty, deep crimson colour suggesting some skin contact time (skins left to soak in the juice for a few hours before being separated) and the palate is richly textured confirming skin contact. Certainly not your average rose, again a wine of intensity and concentration with lovely dusty, fine tannins making for an incredibly drinkable style but with a bit more pizzazz. Enjoy with cheese and canapes.
