Description
D’Arenberg are legendary, and one of the stalwarts of the McLaren Vale, South Australia, and world famous for their Shiraz, especially The Dead Arm Shiraz. Roussanne (Rhone white variety) was planted in the late 90’s where the first crop was covered in tiny ‘Money Spiders’. Popular belief is kindness to these creatures will bring good luck. They were left to their own devices and what do you know, in the next season these little creatures had relocated, making the first release of this wine in 2001. The Money Spider Roussanne 2021 is outstanding and true to reputation, over deliver on every level.
Smells
It reminds me of an olden day style of Hunter Valley Semillon, a rich, oily bouquet of freshly cut straw, dripping melted butter, lemon, and lime skin with toasty, vanilla hints.
Tastes
A rich concentrated palate with great length, balance, and energy. Those oily, viscous textures give wonderful mouthfeel balanced by the straw, beeswax, ripe stone fruit and rock melon flavours. Delicious drinking now with cheese or canapes.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
