Description
Albarino, one of the most distinctive varieties of Spain and is a recent introduction to the pristine shores of Marlborough. This is a limited edition, single vineyard Albarino from Nautilus which was made from hand-picked fruit, chilled overnight before destemming and pressing to retain the purity of the variety. The juice was fermented in stainless steel again retaining the pure flavours of the variety. Albarino, perhaps the new kid on the block for Marlborough.
Smells
Classic varietal characters of peach skin and dried hay underpinned by rock melon, nectarines, beeswax, and lavender.
Tastes
An alluring oily and creamy mid palate with a salivating, crystalline acid thread that weaves it magic across the tongue, titillating, tantalising, and intriguing the taste buds. Ripe golden queen peach flavours dominate the palate, supported by dried herbs with hints of rosemary and lavender. A rich, concentrated Albarino that puts many Spanish examples to shame. It’s a must try. Ideal with cheese, canapes, and fatty, white meats now and over the next year or so.
