Description

Tohu wines is the world’s first Maori owned wine company, creating ranges of wines that encapsulate their terroir and sense of place. Their Manaaki range is inspired from Manaakitanga, the hospitality, kindness and generosity we show to others. Approachable, contemporary wines made for sharing with whanau and friends – any day of the week. And this Tohu 2021 Pinot Gris encapsulates all of that to perfection.

Smells

classic aromas of Pinot Gris, ripe brown pears, fresh ginger, honeysuckle with hints of warm shortbread.

Tastes

a core of rich fruit explodes in the mouth with a creamy texture and a long, warm finish that delights and leaves you longing for another sip. An excellent example of a Pinot Gris, highlighting varietal typicity and just how good the 2020 vintage was, evident by the concentration, power and balance in this wine. Drinking well over the next 2-3 years and an ideal partner with antipasto platters, fresh seafood or roasted white meats.

Lovely hue, off-pink as would be expected. Bouquet of pear predominant - avg. Palette as the label describes, quince rather than pear, with cool-climate apple crispness, hint of sweetness - avg-abv-avg. medium bodied, fruit driven. Spicy finish. V enjoyable. Drink to 23 max.
