Cristal belongs to the luxury Champagne category, a very exclusive club of prestige Cuvées including Salon, Krug, Dom Perignon, Bollinger Grande Année, Taittinger Comtes, Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill etc. It's blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay makes it princely and sophisticated with unconstrained length. There are numerous mesmerising Champagnes in the luxury cuvée category, but our favourite and that of our customers is Cristal. Originally bottled for Tsar Nicholas II, he feared assassination attempts so specified a clear, puntless bottle made of crystal, though made of in glass these days, the style of the bottle remains unique. The UV-proof gold cellophane prevents light damage in transit (we prefer to leave ours in the gift boxes for optimal freshness). 2014 is a magnificent Cristal... Double 98/100 rated – our panel mirrored that. Majestic and indulgent; exuding subtle power, delicate complexities, tiny bubbles and seductive layers of Champagne tastes. White florals, fine lemon and mandarin, biscuit, toasted nuts, hints of white chocolate and spices.
