Description
Named after a 100-year-old olive tree in the Clearview Vineyards, the 2020 Old Olive Block is yet another amazing wine. An excellent vintage has conspired to produce a wine of perfect poise and ripeness, with power and texture to burn. Ever reliable and still happily under-priced compared to its peers, this is a wine to drink now or cellar.
Smells
A haunting floral note emerges from the glass with a hint of capsicum, followed closely by lifted black and red fruits, cassis, curry powder, cedar, and leather.
Tastes
Dense and viscous in the mouth with assertive but fine tannins providing structure to the intense fruit. This is a wine with a big future in the cellar, but very enjoyable now with a piece of rib-eye steak. Cellar through 2028+
