Description

Jacob's Creek has started an exciting concept which is relatively unheard of in the winemaking world but is actually a traditional method in whisky making - ageing in barrels that have previously held other liquids. The barrels impart the flavours of these previous liquids into the wine, in this case, their Cabernet Sauvignon has been aged in ex-Irish Whiskey barrels, giving a charry warmth and slight sweetness to compliment the super ripe fruit in the wine. Incredibly moreish, this is a hugely punter friendly wine which would go down a treat in front of the fireplace.

Smells

An abundance of red berries, chocolate, and a slight charry smokiness. The whisky barrel characters are a very gentle backbone to the expressive fruit.

Tastes

There can only be one word to describe this wine: hearty. Your mouth is instantly filled with layers of ripe berries, plum and blackcurrant. There is a delicate smokiness and the charry character shines through on the finish. The tannins are delicate but hold up the rich, mouth-filling wine superbly. An ultimate winter warmer, this is a wine perfect for getting you through those colder nights, especially with a hearty stew.
