Description

Xanadu, meaning a perfect or extraordinarily beautiful place, is a fitting name for this piece of paradise in Western Australia. The 2021 season brought challenges, including a rain event before harvest that created unusually humid conditions. Despite this, careful fruit selection led to some elegant wines. The Margaret River subregions of Wilyabrup (40%) and Wallcliffe (44%) predominantly sourced fruit for this wine, with additional contributions from Xanadu and Stevens Road vineyards (39%), Treeton (8%), and Yallingup (8%). The extra effort in the vineyard paid off, resulting in wonderfully refined wines. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 90%, Malbec 6% and Petit Verdot 4%.

Smells

the wine displays vibrant, characteristic Cabernet aromas of cassis, mulberries, and blue fruits entwined with hints of mocha, nori, and potpourri.

Tastes

Full-bodied yet refined, the generous palate offers a core of inky berry fruits; boysenberry, blackcurrants and Satsuma plums. Dense and well-structured, the palate is layered with these dark fleshy fruit characteristics and ripe tannins which culminate through to a persistent Cabernet finish. Cellar for a few years, drinking well through 2028, serve with roasted red meats. For optimal drinking pleasure serve around 16-18 degrees.
