Description

The ultimate expression of winemaking at Mission, Huchet wines proudly honour Brother Cyprian Huchet. The son of a French vigneron from the Loire, he became New Zealand’s pioneering winemaker whilst working at Mission in 1871. Produced in very limited quantities and only from outstanding years. In 2018, only six barrels were selected for his special Cabernet Sauvignon. Gimblett Gravels fruit, harvested at optimum ripeness and aged for in French oak barrels for 24 months. Brother Huchet would have been proud to have his name to this bottle.

Smells

complex and intense aromas showing black currant, blackberry, tobacco, mint, and savoury notes.

Tastes

A cacophony of forest fruits and herbal notes, the palate is full-bodied and robust with great power, depth of flavour and a long finish. Bold yet retaining elegance, charm and poise at the same time, a stunning Cabernet from Hawkes Bay that could rival many top Bordeaux wines. The vintage will cellar gracefully for 10-20 years – the perfect gift or special occasion wine, it comes packed in its own individual gift box.
