2020 was another warm year, more rain than the baking 2018 vintage, but the good thing for us consumers is the number of top drinking lesser appellation Bordeaux wines on the market, case at hand. A wonderful drinking Merlot blend. Chateau du Grand Puch is situated in Saint Germain du Puch in the Entre-Deux-Mers sub-region of Bordeaux; and almost half of the estate’s limestone-rich 190 hectares are planted to Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot.

deep, dark, brooding aromas of mulberries, blueberries, cedar, dark chocolate and spice.

a big robust wine with riper, darker fruit flavours, consistant with good quality Merlot based wines. There are gravelly, feathery, chalky tannins that simply cling and do not let go, framing the dark and juciy core of fruit. A wine which will benefit from 3-5years in a good cellar. Superb quality and speaks of the qauality vs price ratio offered in lesser Bordeaux appellations. A silver lining to climate change.
