Unmissable release offer, The astonishing 99-point 2015 Puriri Hills Pope

2015 Pope has the unenviable job of competing with the amazing 2013 & 2014 vintages, but does so with ease! The last 4-vintages of Pope have rated between 98 and 100, we rate 2015 Pope 99/100. The ultimate Artisanal NZ wine, just 1500 bottles made. NZ’s equivalent of Bordeaux’s $2,000 bottle 1st Growths, its striking buying elsewhere @ $189 bottle... our limited allocation is offered at a spectacular $168.99/bottle while stocks last.

Puriri Hills top wine is appropriately named ‘Pope’ – it’s a wine to be revered, admired, and respected. Originally named after Ivan Pope, it is a truly artisanal wine crafted without regard to cost, and presents a compelling picture of what it takes to craft NZ’s Finest Red Wine! 2010-2013-2014-now 2015, all phenomenal wines rating in the 98 to 100 spectrum. The next Pope is scheduled to be 2020 vintage, such vintage sacrifices are equally key to Pope’s elite quality - a genuine representation of what a 1st Growth would look like were NZ to adopt a Classé Growth model like Bordeaux.

2015 vintage is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Malbec. A perfect vintage, the handpicked fruit was harvested at a miserly 1kg per vine and spent nearly 2 years in 30% new French Oak before bottling without fining or filtration. Everything is done in a minimalist manner to preserve the defining character and quality of Pope. Sealed under the finest cork, it’s a wine that will show its best from 2024 onwards and live for who knows how long – 25-30 years conservatively if well cellared.

The Wine...
A bouquet of astonishing quality and intensity – complex notes of exotic perfumes including violets, cassis, dried plum, nutmeg, graphite, leather plus a hint of dark chocolate and liquorice. Whopping concentration and great beauty simultaneously. Delicate layers of dark cherries and berries are infused with chocolate, succulent and creamy but with purity of fruit evolving to a rich, spicy, and refreshing crescendo of power. Unlike anything you will have likely tasted from NZ before. An amazingly complete wine – hard to imagine how it could possibly be better. Push the boat out and grab what you can afford, the 2015 vintage is a masterpiece to savour, share, impress and contemplate through to 2040+.

At circa 10% of the price of 1st Growth Bordeaux, Pope is the ultimate prestige red wine bargain anywhere. A mere 1500 bottles made (unlike the 10,000-20,000 1st Growth productions) it is handcrafted in every respect. Like all great wines, you could decant and drink in its youth and be wowed, or with 2015 Pope you could well be enjoying it in 2045 if it was perfectly stored. Our spectacular release price of $168.99 is only while our limited stocks last. Treat yourself or someone dear to you.

Enjoy, JEFF

2015 Puriri Hills Pope

Unlike anything you will have tasted from NZ before... whopping concentration and great beauty simultaneously... only 1500 bottles made!

Description

Puriri Hills top wine is appropriately named ‘Pope’ – it’s a wine to be revered, admired, and respected just as you would in the company of Pope Francis. Originally named after Ivan Pope, the 2015 vintage is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Malbec. A perfect vintage and one that reaffirmed quality in the region, the handpicked fruit was harvested at a miserly 1kg per vine and saw nearly 2 years in 30% new French Oak before bottling without fining or filtration. Sealed under only the finest cork, it’s a wine that will show its best from 2024 onwards and live for who knows how long – 25-30 years conservatively if well cellared. This 2015 has the unenviable job of competing with the amazing 2013 & 2014 vintages but does so with ease! At 6 years of age, it is approachable now... but is powerful and deeply complex, so we suggest making the investment into a case to enjoy over the coming decades. Less than 1500 bottles made, it is a truly artisanal product crafted without regard to cost. Stock up now, as the next vintage to be released is the 2020! Which could be 5 years away.
