Forrest Estate is an iconic Marlborough winery where Dr John Forrest specialises in a range of excellent wines such as this delicate off-dry Kiwi-style Riesling where grapes are grown on two distinctly different sites. The Wairau River Valley; gravel-rich, free-draining with a devigourating soil profile, gives citrus flavours, fine acidity, low pH and most interestingly an amazing minerality. Their Southern Valleys vineyard, on geologically older soil of crushed rock mixed with a portion of clay, gives a much more exotic fruit flavour profile – stone fruit, citrus, spice and a distinctive “biscuity” minerality.
