Whitehaven are renowned for Sauvignon Blanc but sometimes the stars align, the weather performs, and the season is stunning, as seen in 2021 resulting in this sensational single vineyard Noble Riesling. What better way to finish Christmas lunch than a glass of Whitehaven botrytised Riesling, and at only 9.5% alcohol it is refreshing rather than heavy, the perfect complement to lighten the load of Christmas over-indulgence.
Smells
simply smelling the bouquet is satisfying enough with luscious notes of honeysuckle, manuka honey, orange blossom, hints of apricot kernel and a lime streak.
Tastes
poised and on-point, the balance is impeccable, luscious but far from cloying with pristine crystalline acid that cleanses and refreshes to the finely chiselled finish. The aromas are mirrored on the palate with tons of apricots and lime zest to boot. Too delicious to not drink now but will cellar well for 10 years+. Serve with ripe, runny cheese.
