This 2020 Sauvignon is produced from 4 vineyards in the Wairau Valley, the gravelly river soils showing through with a pronounced minerality, offset by lifted tropical fruit characters. Complex and thought-provoking wine, with unusually low cropping rates and handpicking, this is a great introduction to the consistently excellent wines for Dr John Forrest.
Smells
Ripe tropical notes of guava, pineapple, passionfruit, and very subtle flint.
Tastes
Fat and juicy with lots of texture and complexity, this is Sauvignon from the top drawer, with subtle dried herb notes on the finish. Classy wine to enjoy with fresh seafood and shellfish between now and 2023.
