Description
The barrel-fermented style of Sauvignon Blanc is really starting to gain traction amongst those looking for a little more in their white wines than overt fruit flavours. The oak and lees time adds structure and the ability to improve with age and this August 2021 is an exceptional example of when it is done well. The wine is a masterpiece that flatters to deceive.
Smells
Subtle blackcurrant reminiscent of childhood Ribena, with dried herbal and floral notes supported by subtle savoury oak influence.
Tastes
Impressively powerful and complex with a lovely creamy texture offset by sweet peach, currant and savoury notes working in harmony before a long, biscuity finish. This unique wine calls for a herb-roasted chicken or intensely flavoured seafood dish like oysters with shallot red wine vinegar. Enjoy between now and 2027.
