Beach House remain one of the unsung heroes of the Hawke's Bay wine circuit. They might have vineyards right in the heart of Gimblett Gravels surrounded by top end premium producers with large flashy wineries and big marketing budgets - but that's where the similarities end. Owners Chris and Jill Harrison moved to Hawke's Bay for its relaxed laid back lifestyle. They met while studying winemaking at Roseworthy College in Adelaide, both wanting to produce down to earth approachable wines...and that's exactly what they've been doing since 1996.

With a canny eye for good land they invested wisely in the Gimblett Gravels area where their reds come from - surrounded by a veritable who's who of top end premium producers with state of the art wineries and large scale cellar doors. Conversely Beach House Wines has made a name for itself by sneaking under the radar, winning Trophies and Awards consistently along the way, attracting attention from those wine fans who seek out the top quality but more affordable gems that can be found if you know where to look. And this Bordeaux Blend Cabernet predominant wine is one of those rare gems, at a price that's even rarer!

Hand-picked from mature vines with 38% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Cabernet Franc and 27% Malbec, this is a typical Bordeaux Blend that showcases the balancing act of fruit versus structure. Previous vintages of this Cabernet Blend have won Trophies at the Hawke's Bay A & P Wine Show...not once, not twice but three consecutive years! . It has all the classic hallmarks of a Bordeaux Blend with dark plum and blackcurrant laced with baking spices and a warm cedar note on the nose. With a tight structure and fine powdery tannin, this wine is drinking superbly now and will continue through to 2026 with ease.

We sell a lot of this wine as a cellar recommendation at its full retail price of $31.99 because its so typically what a Hawke's Bay Bordeaux Blend should taste like. Its consistent quality has nurtured a wonderful following from Cabernet lovers here and abroad, and it has always delivered fantastic value for money. But to be offered a wine like this at sub $20 is almost unbelievable and if their Hospitality and Export Customers weren't in such dire straits right now with Covid I doubt we'd ever have seen this deal, but like so many wineries at the moment business is tough, and there are new vintages coming that they need to make room for.

If you're a Cabernet fan, and motivated by fantastic wine bargains, your dinner guests won't believe you when you serve them this beauty and say it cost you just twenty bucks! So don't miss out, stocks are limited and we know this will sell like hot cakes

The unmistakable fragrance of Cabernet Franc draws you into this seductive wine, the classic Cabernet Sauvignon cassis, dried herbs and long tannins give it strong presence and length and the Malbec adds weight and gamey, smoky complexity to the core. The stylish French oak is subsumed into the generous fruit and the finish has intensity, warmth and freshness. A wonderful Cabernet blend that’s entirely delicious in its youth, but very capable of cellaring beyond ten years if well stored. If your looking to create a memorable drinking cellar on a modest budget... this is essential buying.

Fragrant cassis, tobacco, plum, blackberry and cedar.

Super fine and elegantly medium-bodied, still with great weight and mouth presence, this is a composed and aristocratic Cabernet in the style of quality Bordeaux. Seamless and refined, enjoy now but it will be at its best 2020-2026.
