Description

In 1970, Brokenwood Wines purchased land originally set to become a cricket ground. The owners love cricket but decided to plant grapes instead. And thankfully for us, we think they made the right choice. Brokenwood were amongst the first in Australia to master the art of blending in order to achieve a consistent, harmonious style. The Cricket Pitch 2019 is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon 63%, Shiraz 23%, and Merlot 14%. And what a blend it is…

Smells

aromas of smoky, bacon rind, blackcurrant leaf, cedar, undergrowth, with notes of cedar and cinnamon

Tastes

there is a lovely interplay of flavours, cassis, and spice thanks to the Cab, roasted red meats and red capsicum, the result of Shiraz and dark plums from the Merlot. All three varieties marry together structurally as well. A wine that is plush, smooth with a slight tautness from the Cab. Complex and savoury notes, all making for the perfect blend. Drinking well now through 2025 and will partner well with roasted red meats.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
