Markstone Californian wines are new to NZ and exclusive to Fine Wine Delivery shelves – enthusiastically sold by our team. Typical of Californian Cabernet and their climate… Markstone is a riper style with a richly fruited palate that demands to be wrapped in toasty vanillin oak. Its generosity is captured in silky tannins providing appropriate poise to an otherwise lavish Cabernet experience. Sub $25 it is a bargain, a big red at a very modest price tag, helping us all to drink better for less in this current economic climate. It will cellar through 2027 but is made in a lavish style that’s appealing from the get-go!
Smells
Deeply scented perfume of ripe figs, dried raisins, red fruits, and a hint of bergamot tea dusted with cinnamon.
Tastes
Lavish layers of ripe red fruits, delivering everything you expect from a richly flavoured Californian Cabernet. Figs, raisons, fine tea, vanilla and toasty oak all add to its lavish charm. The soft, silky tannins provide a fine structure, taming the opulence, just a hint. Drinking perfectly now through 2027, serve with BBQed or char-grilled meats. The recommended serving temperature is 15-17 degrees.
