Description
Chateau du Raux, Haut Medoc, Cru Bourgeois, is located between Pauillac and Margaux, in the commune of Cussac-Fort-Médoc, a 20-hectare estate on Médoc gravel. Merlot and Cabernet-Sauvignon are the two grape varieties equally represented in each vintage. The sandy-gravelly soils extend to a thickness of about one meter and the subsoil is composed of a deep clay horizon. This combination forms a terroir particularly suited to the cultivation of quality vines. The surface soil is poor in mineral elements promoting slow growth in the vines, while the subsoil ensures a regular water supply. The average age of the vineyard is 27 years.
Smells
warming aromas of toasty vanilla oak, milk chocolate, aniseed and coffee, fill the glass.
Tastes
a seriously structure wine with sensual fruit and robust, chewy tannins that endlessly grip ones cheeks. Wow its no wallflower and will benefit from a few years in a temperature controlled cellar.
