Description
Sometimes there are miracles, and, in this case, this miraculous value organic Right Bank Bordeaux Cabernet Merlot is so good we shipped direct under temperature control 300 cases for FWD red wine lovers. Such a rich and generous Cab/Merlot sub $20, you should buy up as many bottles as your budget allows. Chateau La Goutte d'Or is a small winery of 13 hectares located in the town of Fours on the right bank of the Gironde, opposite the Medoc. The chateau is owned by Sandrine Haur and Mikael Droz, who bought the estate with the surrounding vineyards in 2004 and immediately decided to follow the path of organic viticulture. Thanks to his dedication and perseverance, in 2013 the corresponding certificate was received. Harvesting is carried out when the berries reach the optimum level of ripeness. At the winery, the fruits are subjected to the traditional vinification for making red wines, which includes low-temperature maceration on the skins and 3-week alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature. After the completion of malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in cement tanks for 12 months. Gold Medal at the “Challenge Competition” and a powerful 95 points from our FWD panel. Seriously full-flavoured and delicious, it would also be an excellent Merlot Cabernet to cellar for 3-5 further years.
Smells
Blackcurrants, plums, fresh tobacco leaves, cedar and spice fill the glass and spill over into the room.
Tastes
The fruit on the palate is endless, a plush wine with a linear structure throughout and excellent concentration of fruit in the mid-palate building to a long, focused finish. We retasted it the next day and the fruit freshness and power remained… an excellent indication it will cellar several more years. The chalky, gravely tannins make it even more exciting and enticing. Basically, it was hard to fault, even were it double the price. Ideal with roast and BBQed meats or a selection of hard cheeses.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
