1934 was the first year Marino Selak sold his first wines in NZ... and Selaks Wines went on to become an iconic NZ family winemaking business. Selaks 1934 Hawkes Bay wines were made to commemorate that special day and to honour Marino’s winemaking roots through crafting distinct Hawkes Bay wines for the modern palate.

The Wine...
A plush combination of dark plums, wild red berries, layers of brown spice, tar and smoky nuances. Fruity, seductive Merlot that delivers on every level, without disappointment. Dark plum, wild strawberry, cranberry, and cassis flavours are infused with fine cedar oak, smoothly wrapped in soft, grainy tannins. Plump, plush and very drinkable, suitable for every occasion and even the fussiest of tastes. Exceptional 2019 vintage sealed under screwcap it will drink nicely through 2025... but is a very approachable Merlot right now.

Traditionally fermented on skins with hand plunging of the cap 3 times daily... the wine remained on skins a further 7-days. Aged in French oak... a portion was retained in stainless steel tank to add freshness to the flavoursome palate.
