Description

A Cru born in 1974 and produced only in the best years from Sangiovese grapes planted at 5,850 vines per hectare, 400m above sea level. It sees the glorious Tuscan sun during the day cooled by the cool altitude breezes at nighttime, which lock in flavour and structure. Frescobaldi describe it as... "An intense wine with grand aromas and a long, noble persistence, Montesodi has always been considered the best expression of Sangiovese del Castello Nipozzano." This stunning SV Sangiovese undergoes 30-days maceration on skins the 18-moths in large 30hl Austrian and French ovals, with an additional 6-months in bottle. It has 2 decades of aging potential and is a Grand expression of this special grape!

Smells

Intriguing aromas of fresh cherry, plum, balsamic and savoury notes.

Tastes

Fresh, complex and balanced... the tannins blend well with the generous body ensuring a velvety palate. The acidity elegantly lifts the flavours from go to whoa and the finish is highlighted by mixed berries (blackberry & raspberry) with a hint of anise. Seriously delicious red enjoyable now through 2023.
