Description

Beautifully textured, finely tannined, sophisticated NZ Pinot Noir, resembling a quality Burgundy stylistically. Made by a Decanter Top 20 NZ Winery and leading NZ winemaker. Sold in China under this Limestone Creek label exclusively for a fine wine distributor, so its normal winery label cannot be used. We cannot advertise the winery or winemaker openly as it is damaging for this Top 20 Winery’s brand reputation. When you receive the wine… the owner’s and winemaker name are on the back label, a quick GOOGLE will enlighten you. But do keep that to yourself please. Best vineyards, fruit & winemaking and from the exceptional 2020 vintage. It has a Burgundian elegance about it and now 4-years of age its drinking beautifully and will do through 2030+.

Smells

Classic Pinot nose of red and black cherry and berry fruits with floral scents and exotic spice, the aromas beautifully in harmony.

Tastes

Juicy with sweet red/black cheery and berry fruits and layered with amazing eastern spice, milk chocolate and French oak. A serious structure emerging beneath the lovely hedonistic fruit before wending its way to a delicious contrasting savoury climax in a more Burgundian style. Still young but knitting together beautifully at 4-years if age. this will be worth cellaring 10 to 12 years if you want to appreciate its full majesty.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.

at $22.99 it's a great wine

A wonderful wine even if you paid $100 for it. At $23 it is outstanding. Definitely Burgundy style. Soft silky tannins. Still young and fresh but developing some complexity.

Just tried my 1st bottle this evening. Fantastic. Absolute value for money.

4th December 2023 | Michael Yelcich

I could see the wine came from Waipara and that was good enough for me. A faith rewarded with an excellent Pinot Noir. Sometimes it’s not who you know but where you know.

Classic North Canterbury. Great stuff!

Very ellegant and tasty Pinot that Waipara is renowned for I would definitely buy !

3rd December 2023 | WILLIAM GEDDES

Super refined nose followed by notes of leather and old tobacco, lovely complex fruit gradually pushing its way to the front. Think about drinking it now - but think about finding it again in a year or three.

3rd December 2023 | Clive Standen

Earthy and complex - an excellent NZ Pinot

3rd December 2023 | Graeme Boag

Affordable pinot with a strong but crisp fruity after taste not as smooth as others Ive tried but they were twice the price .

3rd December 2023 | Chris E

Incredible value. Berry & cherry fruit with gamey spice and dried herb notes. Lovely texture and nicely balanced fruit and oak weight with a long finish. I am buying some more.

A real surprise package and pleasure to discover. Clearly hails from a highly accomplished team. Fully recommended and a steal at the price.

Very smooth with rich Pinot flavours. A long after taste.

3rd December 2023 | Kevin Foster

Smooth as silk, save yourself the Central Otago/Martinborough Pinot tax and buy this bad boy instead, put it in a decanter and listen to the effusiveness crank to 11…

2nd December 2023 | Graeme

We have really enjoyed this wine and rate it above some Central Otago wines that we have enjoyed from Fine Wines. Very happy to recommend this and have bought a few cases to enjoy in the coming months and beyond.

Stunning Pinot Noir - normally only drink central Otago Pinot noir but this up there with some of the best. Great buying at the price will be looking to get more (4 wasn’t enough ?)

This wine was a complete surprise. We bought it 'blind', relying on FWD's own opinion and we were not disappointed. Outstanding balance of flavours and delightful aromas. A great wine and a great bargain. Don't let this one pass you by. Ken and Karen Woodhead

I do know what this wine is when it is sold in New Zealand. Let me assure you, it is a lovely pinot with the added advantage of being well below the normal New Zealand retail price. Jump in, is my advice.

2nd December 2023 | Patricia Thomas

Delightful tasting wine. Will get more

2nd December 2023 | Paul Selby

This Pinot is worth every cent! In fact find a quality pinot of the calibre for this price , it's not easy to find, it has a distinct flavour, easy on the pallet, and seems to work with a selection of cheeses and crackers, I will need another case of this Pinot for. Xmas
