Description
Penfolds Bin 28 as we know it with that classic mix of rich Shiraz fruit and creamy American oak in perfect harmony. Clearly 2020 has been a fine vintage and with quality vineyard management the fruit has been picked at optimum ripeness levels (pure ripe flavours with no signs of over ripeness). It used to be a Barossa-specific Shiraz, however these days the multi-regional blend components have only added to the wines persona with greater fruit complexity showing through.
Smells
Alluring nose with engaging spice and floral elements underpinning a plethora of black fruits tinged with vanillin oak notes.
Tastes
Luxurious entry onto the palate with a medley of ripe black fruits infused with spices, anise and smooth chocolate/vanillin oak complexities. The firm grainy tannins add poise to the luxurious flavours and will see it in good stead for a lengthy cellar time through 2030 and well beyond if properly stored.
