Description
A brand-new product to the NZ market from the Martin Codax winery from Rias Baixas within the wine region of Galicia, North Eastern Spain. Impossible to say but give it a whirl (Ree-ass By-shass). The region is renowned for making monovarietal white wines from Albarino, where the proximity to the sea gives wine its freshness and saltiness and the granitic soils enhance minerality.
Smells
elegant aromas of stone fruits, white flowers with hints of honeysuckle and almond flowers.
Tastes
A wonderful rich, oily texture is complimented by the salivating saltiness, refreshing and cleansing at the same time. Stone fruit flavours persist on the palate with a touch of nuttiness and then a crisp, crystalline, acid/salty finish that lingers and delights the senses. Perfect drinking now and over the next year or two. If this is your first introduction to Albarino then this is a good start. Good concentration, balance and texture makes for an excellent white wine that’s very different to NZ Savvy, definitely worth a try…. Serve with risottos, sushi or grilled seafood.
