Description
Champion Trophy & Gold at the Aotearoa Regional Wine Awards for “Best Emerging White Wine” … + 93-95/100 ratings. Mount Riley is one of the pioneers of Marlborough consistently producing excellent wines for every occasion at very modest prices. New to producing Albariño, their 2024 is made from grapes grown on Mount Riley’s St Andrew Vineyard south of Blenheim township. Capturing the essence of the variety and the outstanding 2024 vintage (you’ll hear a lot about 2024 vintage as the wines start to come to market) with ripe peach flavours, hints of dried hay and a fresh subtle citrus thread. Generous and delicious drinking now through 2026 with freshly caught line snapper and shellfish.
Smells
Lifted aromas of ripe peach, with lemon zest, fresh basil, and sun-baked hay.
Tastes
A richly flavoured, creamy, oily palate with a crystalline citrus acidity that cleanses and freshens, resulting in a superbly drinkable wine. Well done to the Mount Riley team for capturing true varietal characteristics and making a delicious Albariño at a great price. Perfect for the summer afternoons ahead.
