Description
Champion Trophy & Gold Aotearoa Regional Wine Awards for “Best Emerging White Wine” … + Gold + 93-95/100 + 5 Stars. Mount Riley is one of the pioneers of Marlborough consistently producing excellent wines for every occasion at very modest prices. With several Albariño vintages under their belt, they’ve shown how wonderfully suited to NZ climes this famous Spanish grape is. This Trophy winning release is made from grapes grown on Mount Riley’s St Andrew Vineyard south of Blenheim township. Capturing the essence of the variety and the outstanding 2024 vintage (you’ll hear a lot about 2024 vintage as the wines start to come to market) with ripe peach flavours, hints of dried hay and a fresh subtle citrus thread. Generous and delicious drinking now through 2026 with freshly caught line snapper and shellfish.
Smells
Lifted aromas of ripe peach, with lemon zest, subtle fresh basil, and sun-baked hay.
Tastes
A richly flavoured, creamy, generous palate with ripe Golden peach and citrus prominent and a crystalline acidity that cleanses and freshens, resulting in a superbly drinkable wine. Well done to the Mount Riley team for capturing true varietal characteristics and making a delicious Albariño at a great price. Perfect at lunch, pre dinner and with a variety of seafood.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
