Marlborough Pioneers the Rose Family, have been growing grapes on the banks of the Wairau River since 1978. Instrumental in putting NZ on the world map. They have found a new place in the world to grow Gruner Veltliner (famous Austrian white grape) - such is their success with the grape, and on the back of its quality, they are moving it up to their elite Reserve Range soon to be released. Accordingly, they have asked Fine Wine Delivery to quickly CLEAR the current label that normally sells for $30.00/bottle... pricing it at a stunning $14.99. It will appeal to all aromatic white wine drinkers... and should genuinely excite lovers of Dry Pinot Gris!

And with over 40 years of growing the Rose family know their land intimately, and which grapes grow well there...like this alluring 'other white' grape Gruner Veltliner. Originally from Austria, Gruner Veltliner is really gaining traction here in NZ, and is well suited to Marlborough's climate with many of the top examples coming from there. Similarities across a range of aromatic whites including Riesling, Albariño and in this instance dry Pinot Gris.

It has a lovely balance between vibrant fresh fruit and a clean acid structure. It's incredibly versatile with foods and very refreshing - but most of all, it's great to break out of your drinking mold and try something new and interesting! It’s a refreshing medley of zesty citrus, orange blossom and stone fruit with hints of spice and herbs... a dry white taste sensation. It's also got a wonderful chalky texture and fabulous acidity adding to its superb feel and length. 2019 was a knockout vintage for whites, and this one is tasting superbly right now and will continue to do so for another three to four years.

$14.99 is HALF PRICE for one of NZ's finest examples of this famous Austrian grape. It will particularly appeal to Dry Pinot Gris lovers, but equally Riesling and European dry white wine drinkers. Incredible quality and style you would not normally be exposed to at $14.99 bottle... you simply cannot go wrong. 122 cases will fly out the door... so get yourself a case or two before it's all gone... next time you buy it you’ll have to pay full price under Wairau Rivers Reserve Range.

Phil & Chris Rose planted their first vines in the Wairau River region of Marlborough four decades ago in 1978. Talk about growing and knowing your terroir, no one knows more about this Marlborough sub region than the Roses. Now the quintessential family business... these days son, Hamish, grows it; another son, Sam, makes it and daughter, Caroline, runs their outstanding front of house cellar door and restaurant. When you know your land like the back of your hand... and your first vines were planted 40-years ago, with most of your 100% family owned estate vineyards north of 20-years old... it all leads to the making of outstanding wine, and this Gruner Veltliner is no exception. A native variety of Austria that is gaining traction in NZ, watch this space.

delicate lemon-honey, citrus and floral aromas with hints of fennel and thyme.

flavours of citrus zest, orange blossom, white pepper with hints of basil entice on the palate all enhanced by the great structure, excellent balance and length. There is a lovely chalky texture adding an extra dimension. A very good example of an NZ Gruner. Drinking well now and over the next 3-4 years, perfect with cheese, canapes, and other entrees.
