Description

The 2014 was rated twin 5 stars, and this 2016 has similar qualities and sophistication. Now 4 years old it is a window to how outstanding top-level Pinot Gris becomes with age, something we are all guilty of not doing given they are so drinkable as young wines. This is single vineyard Central Otago Pinot Gris bio-dynamically produced... it does not get purer and more scintillating than this. A weighty, rich, creamy and complex Pinot Gris reminiscent of Alsace and deserving of its $40 Cellar Door price - will age a further 4-5 years.

Smells

Beguiling aromas of apricots, pears, toasted almonds and white flowers.

Tastes

Succulent and honeyed, the wine is so rich you can be fooled into thinking it is sweeter... but that changes markedly with its closer to dry, scintillating purity on the very long finish. It has a wealth of pear and stone fruit infused with delicious nutty, toasty, creamy winemaking subtleties. Very weighty and sophisticated Pinot Gris with Alsace like qualities. Try with various pate, Foie Gras and Terrine for best food matching and enjoy now through 2025.
