Description
This striking 2019 vintage exclusive Export Label “Cawte’s Cave” Sauvignon Blanc should have been sailing off to a fine wine merchant in the UK. However due to the global Covid-19 shutdown and the uncertainty around when things will return to normal over there... the decision to cancel this 1,000-case container shipment was inevitable. The top tier organic and bio-dynamic producer who created this utterly sophisticated and complex Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc releases the identical wine under his domestic brand at $27.90/bottle. Refinement with a myriad of subtle complexities, beautifully balanced acidity, and mouthwatering wet rock minerality give so much pleasure. This is topline pedigree from an organically and bio-dynamically certified vineyard which is also vegan friendly... no pesticides or OTT additives... this is as pure as winemaking gets. An elegant and expressive white wine texturally enhanced by a smaller portion of the ferment being aged in seasoned oak barrels. The vintage and the wine are magnificent... worth every cent of $27.99... drinking wine of this calibre at $12.90 is “NOT NORMAL”. You should grab a case if you can afford it as it will drink beautifully for 5-years.
Smells
Enticing gooseberry, stonefruit, citrus zest, lime spice with fresh hay and a wet rock mineral lift.
Tastes
The palate is vibrantly fruited unleashing a basket of elegant gooseberry, nectarine, lime, grapefruit zest fruits in a fine chalky texture with subtle herb complexities. It is superbly rounded and juicy acidity and lemonade like freshness from the minerality provide excellent lift to the extended finish. Enjoy now with BBQ'd Snapper or grilled lemon asparagus... no hurry this is a sophisticated dry white wine that will get even better over 3-5 years.
We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
