Description
The Foundation vineyard is where the grapes came from for Saint Clair’s flagship Wairau Reserve Sauvignon Blanc since 2000. It is regarded as the foundation of the subsequent development of some of Saint Clair’s finest expressions of sub-regional Sauvignon Blanc. The site is prized for its fertile free-draining alluvial soils.
Smells
Tropically fruited nose showing notes of ripe melons, passionfruit, blackcurrant and guava.
Tastes
The soils are evident in this wine with a salty, flinty undertone to the wine, as well as plenty of juicy currants, passionfruit pulp and gooseberry. Enjoy with seafood between now and 2025.
