Description

Elephant Hill never seem to put a foot wrong and after a string of stunning vintages in ’13, ’14, ’15 and ’16 especially for producers of Bordeaux varietals, we have been blessed with amazing wine after amazing wine. True to form Elephant Hill’s 2018 Merlot lives up to their impeccable reputation, made from fruit sourced from their Triangle vineyard and Gimblett Gravel holdings. Built with tannin and structure but approachable now, this is a big glass of wine at this price level – great with food upon release and through 10 years of age.

Smells

Black doris plum, star anise, dark chocolate, dried herbs, and cassis.

Tastes

Juicy and moreish, with integrated dusty tannins and fine French oak (30% new for 22 months). The palate is layered and dense with savoury nuances and a black fruited core. Enjoy now right through to 2026.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
