Description
Family-owned (5 generations) and estate-grown since 1851, with vineyards in South Australia’s Padthaway. No expense is spared in producing this Shiraz, extensive barrel regimes are implemented, including the use of 35% new French oak and American oak. The final blend is a barrel selection best representing the vintage.
Smells
Complex aromas of chocolate brownie and mint tea on the side, fruit of the forest chocolate, blackberry pie, leather, and cigar box.
Tastes
Rich, full-bodied and unctuous, ripe black fruits flavours balance the toasty vanilla and coconut oak, enhanced by a tarry complexity, plenty of concentration with a long finish. Enjoy now or in ten years’ time. Roast duck or other gamey meats would go a treat with this wine.
