Fine Wine Delivery was fortunate enough to discover the previous vintage of the Shingleback Haycutters Shiraz with it’s Gold Medal and 95 points from International Wine Challenge in London… We managed to secure over 1000 cases for our even luckier customers at the staggering price of $13.99, which we sold out in just over 2 months.
Due to its success and popularity, we sought to secure more and were promptly delivered a bottle of the 2019 vintage. Upon tasting we knew this wine would be just as successful the 2018!
Medium bodied and filled with spicy, rich McLaren Vale fruit and stylish oak. Plenty of flavour with a silky-smooth tannin structure and juicy acidity making it deliciously fresh on the finish and difficult to put your glass down unless it requires a refill. Aussie Shiraz drinkers would weep if they knew we KIWI’s were paying just $13.99 for one of their favourite regular Shiraz.

Red and dark fruits, coffee grinds, mocha hints giving way to cedar, spice, tar and an earthy vein... very engaging aromas.

The balance on the palate is impeccable, rich, concentrated yet showing vibrancy and poise with a long, salivating finish where the acid cuts the rich, textured mouthfeel. Wild berry, Doris plums and milk chocolate flavours abound with chalky yet silky tannins making for an impressive experience in the mouth. This is the perfect BBQ wine drinking well over the next 2-3 years.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.

Very good wine for the price. At 3 years it’s less fruity now. Good bouquet of dark berries. Smooth medium to full-bodied. Plenty of flavour, showing development. Vanilla and blackberry and tart plum. Avg finish. 3.5-4 star. Cellar to 2023 max. Went brilliantly with my traditional homemade Cheshire at 7 months. Wines tartness balances the cheeses zing.

Worth breaking the "I must drink only NZ wine and keep the country working" rule for: this is a gorgeous rich fruity Shiraz at an excellent price point. Note to self: must order additional bottles for the autumn.

Deep purple color. Very inviting bouquet of vanilla, blackberries, toast. After a swirl this is more intense. Well balanced taste of dark fruit, pleasant tannins and short to medium finish. A good wine with red meat or an extra cheesy and hearty Mac’n Cheese. Great wine for a low price.

I bought 2 dozen bottles pf Shingleback 2 years back and it was fantastic - i was drinking the last bottle when the present vintage became available and had to buy more. Great drinking and great value.

Value for money this wine is my favourite.!! It is full bodied without being heavy…..a very popular wine whenever I share a bottle. One I always hope to have on hand in my cellar.

Well structured and balanced .Good fruit structure for a$ 13.99 wine. Might improve if left for another 12 months although drinking well now.

Lovely fruity bouquet and gooseberry flavour on the palate - fresh, very enjoyable on hot summer evenings. Absolute bargain at the price I paid of $10.95!!

I bought several cases because Aussie Shiraz is a favourite and the rating points seemed quite high for for such a reasonable price. The wine has lived up to this value proposition and I will buy more because It is delicious on its own or with a steak and mushroom sauce off the barbie.

It has been great to have a Shiraz that is not too heavy for enjoyable summer drinking.

28th February 2022 | Tim Wood

very palatable. A tad lighter than a lot of shiraz from oz . makes for great drinking

28th February 2022 | Bill Cowie

Thoroughly enjoyed this wine - add in the price point and you can't go wrong! Was too good just to have one glass so a sneaky second one slipped in there over dinner last night!

28th February 2022 | Geoff Clark

A simply delicious shiraz.

28th February 2022 | Graeme

Easy drinking good value

28th February 2022 | John Whiteford

Shingleback shiraz has lovely dark fruit flavours, plums, cherries, raspberry. There is some classic pencil box on the nose along with the fruits. It's smooth but with a bit of an edge from the tannins. When you give it a good swish around your mouth, you get loads of intense flavours. It has a long finish. For the price, it is the best value shiraz I've had and it could easily be double.

28th February 2022 | Andrew Haddleton

Great wine at a great price. A little spice and all things nice. Definitely value for money.

28th February 2022 | Malcolm Andrew Knight

At this price point you wont find anything better. Easy drinking, quite mellow for a Shiraz, plenty of fruit and some dark spice in there as well. Perfect accompaniment to my bbq last night and also great to drop a bit into the meat sauce for a bit of flavour.

28th February 2022 | Dave Smith

Value for money and taste it is a top buy. Full of flavour without sacrificing style.

28th February 2022 | John Wright

I purchased this wine based on my experience with McLaren Vale wines and was definitely NOT disappointed. Initially I was anticipating popping it in my cellar for a couple more years but couldn't resist opening one for a sample. The wine was so impressive that I immediately ordered more. Highly recommended at this awesome price!

28th February 2022 | Roy Maddox
