RD stands for recently disgorged (or rather ‘recemment degorge’ in French) and Bollinger have trademarked the term. It basically means the wine has undergone longer aging on lees than the regular Grande Annee and there will be slight variations between different disgorgements. The 2007 Bollinger RD is a blend of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, with 14 Crus including 91% Grands Crus and 9% Premier Crus. With only 3g/l dosage, it is one of the driest RDs we have tried.

A magnificent bouquet of quince, bush honey, fresh baked bread and stonefruits.

Rich and full-bodied with layers of lees-driven nutty flavours over a detailed palate of apple, summer plums, lemon and brioche, finishing creamy and mineral. A serious special occasion Champagne to enjoy with black truffle risotto between now and 2035
