Description
Hawkes Bay is the home of some very tasty and serious Bordeaux blends and Falconhead 2018 is a very good example. A blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. The grapes were harvested from two of their vineyards in Hawkes Bay and the warm 2018 growing season provided ideal conditions to ripen the grapes to perfection, making for a superb drinking Bordeaux style.
Smell: Aromas of dark summer fruits are supported by gentle oak and spice.
Tastes: The palate is soft and rich, exhibiting deep berry flavours, ripe cassis notes with toasty vanilla oak, gentle tannins, and great length. A very approachable and easy drinking style, perfect drinking now through 2025 and will match with BBQ meats.
