An all-time favourite of the Fine Wine Team and our customers, Ata Rangi‘s Crimson, their entry level Pinot, but a wine most would be happy to have as their top tier wine. Their 2022 is a fine Pinot Noir delivering a strong sense of place and the mark of the people who created this beauty. Sadly, not all of us can afford Ata Rangi Pinot Noir very often, Crimson however offers a more affordable option with the same excellent attention to detail as extended to their top Pinot.
Smells
slightly subdued aromatics but with airtime opens to rosehips, wet stones, chalk, cranberries, and spice.
Tastes
True to Ata Rangi style and Crimson, a Pinot with serious crunch, and tannins that simply seduce with every sip. This is a Pinot of serious note, the tannins form a complex and structured framework around the dark yet vibrant and juicy fruit within. There is an exciting undercurrent of savoury and earthy flavours, all enhancing the overall balance of this stunning wine, especially for the price. Delicious drinking now through 2028 with duck or pork.
