Description
Mount Langi Ghiran are famous for cool climate Shiraz, located in Northern Victoria and is renowned for making wines in a European style. Billi Billi is an introduction to premium Victorian cool climate wines, made for everyday drinking and with a strong sense of variety and vintage. The Billi Billi Shiraz is sourced from a selection of premium cool climate vineyards throughout Victoria; predominantly the Grampians including a portion from the Mount Langi Ghiran vineyards, home of the iconic Langi Shiraz. A very different form of Australian Shiraz, more akin to Syrah from Hawkes Bay.
Smells
complex savoury aromas of salty sea air, liquorice, brine, olives, and crushed herbs including a touch of mint all underpinned by cranberries, Chinese sour plums, and brown spice.
Tastes
not your usual ripe, plush, juicy style typically found in Australia, but rather a wine with focus, refinement, and with deep layers of complexity. Flavours of black liquorice, black tea, black olives, and bramble race through the palate with sublime, chalky, tannins and a slatey texture. Delicious and intriguing and definitely worth delving into the world of cool climate Aussie Shiraz, especially considering the modest price tag. Drinking well now through 2026+ and will match with roast lamb or beef superbly.
