Description
Wirra Wirra was founded in 1893 and then taken over by the late Greg Trott in the 1960s who took Wirra Wirra through some transformative years, making them into one of the most iconic wineries of Australia today. As the story goes, Greg fulfilled many of his dreams at Wirra Wirra, but one eluded him. Greg wished to build a catapult to pelt his neighbouring wineries with wine bottles, because why not? An eccentric man who made spectacular wine. Greg's legacy has been continued here, the Catapult Shiraz paying homage to the man who made Wirra Wirra the legends they are today.
Smells
Rich and powerful red fruits. Raspberry, cherry, and strawberries galore, with a touch of savouriness, spice with lifted mint chocolate notes. Powerful and opulent, a real winner here.
Tastes
The powerful fruits from the nose continue through on the palate and are wonderfully complemented by coatings of chocolate and a touch of creaminess and spice. A beautifully balanced Shiraz that straddles the fine line of opulent fruit without being sweet. Superb stuff, and fabulous bang for your buck. Made for juicy, red meats.
