Description
"Mid crimson. Really serious – and surely underpriced? – wine. Gently made with a dry, fruity core that combines the fruit with the pepper and structure of Syrah. So long and so beautifully balanced. It expresses Coonawarra and the grape variety and is delightfully long. A lightly saline finish with real electricity on the palate. Snap this up!"
17/20 - Jancis Robinson
Coonawarra has a global reputation for Cabernet but Wynns have proven over 6-decades that Shiraz is equally as impressive when grown in the famous rich, red terra rossa soils. Wynns went through an extensive additional Shiraz planting program in the 1990s and it’s quite literally bearing fruit (outstanding fruit) - with the now-mature vines revelling in the slow ripening conditions that prevailed in 2018, making this a richly flavoured but beautifully rounded and smooth Shiraz.

Smells
Highly aromatic with seductive layers of blueberry, blackberry, nutmeg and violets.
Tastes
As smooth and rounded as an old leather armchair, with silky, juicy tannins embracing luxurious red and black fruit, it remains present on the palate long after you’ve swallowed. Hints of chocolate, dried herbs and baking spices bring genuine complexity to this decadent and beautifully rounded Shiraz that delivers beacon value. Totally seductive drinking on its own, but its opulence is further enhanced when consumed with BBQ’d and lightly spiced meats plus, its cuddly palate will warm you on the coldest winter nights. Enjoy with gusto between now and 2026.
