Description

Standing 950 metres above sea level, these are 70-year-old ungrafted, unirrigated bush vines farmed organically on nutrient-poor stony soil studded with slabs of limestone rock in a region renowned for low rainfall. It sounds to good to be true, but luckily for us, it is true, and the wine reflects these superb growing conditions. Monastrell, aka Mourvèdre in France, thrives in these conditions and the wine in the bottle is nothing short of sensational…A new winemaker to the team has taken this estate to a whole new level. All their wines are worth trying especially in this very affordable price range.

Smells

clearly defined aromas of cherry, red berries, and plum confiture are in harmony with liquorice, mineral notes, hints of hillside herbs and a dash of vanilla and barrel char.

Tastes

The wine is between medium and full-bodied in the mouth, with initial softly approachable tannins that gradually reveal their elegance and refinement and blend perfectly with the new oak. It is deliciously drinkable, with a medium-to long finish, rounded off by lively fruit combined with a mineral elegance and balanced acidity for a truly enjoyable wine that is also profound and complex. This will age well in a temperature-controlled cellar 6-8years+ or if you cannot resist, decant one hour prior to serving. The perfect partner to tapas, risotto, or grilled meats.

We taste, rate & guarantee every wine we sell.
