Description

Filo di Seta translates to Silk Thread, the name of a creek that flows through the nearby forest. But it’s a very apt description for the palate, a seamless, silky flow the whole length on the palate that keeps giving and giving. The vines are located on a North-westerly exposure, slightly cooler but capturing the afternoon sun to ensure optimal ripeness. And needless to say, the yields are tiny. Fermentation and maceration take around 20 days followed by 30 months maturation in barrel and a further 12 months in bottle. They have done a lot of ageing for us, but it is here for the long haul, 10-15 years+. A wine to treat yourself with, not many will get the opportunity.

Smells

heavenly aromas of fresh red cherries and hints of maraschino cherries, violets and blood red rose petals, giving way to high toned notes of dusty wood.

Tastes

There is a gorgeous core of silky, smooth fruit with lifted floral, red liquorice, underbrush, tobacco and cedar flavours. A profoundly serious wine that speaks of class, highlighted by its poise, flow, energy and almost firm tannic structure that encases the body of fruit. Captivating is all that can be said.
