Description

Argentina and its signature variety seem to be striding ahead in leaps and bounds especially when considering quality to value ratio. The concentration and power of these wines are impressive and for what seems like a miniscule price. Santa Ana, winery with Italian ancestry, has only gone from strength to strength, showing their true commitment to their new home. The reserve Malbec 2019 has been aged in a combination of French and American barrels for nine months, adding complexity and richness.

Smells

a sweet, lifted bouquet of blackberries, mulberries, blueberries, lashings of vanilla and coconut, giving way to exotic spice notes.

Tastes

a deeply coloured and well-structured wine, where in the mouth it has a velvety texture with mouthcoating tannins that hug the insides of your cheeks. Dark, berry flavours persist on the tongue with bitter chocolate, coffee bean notes and a lively raspberry thread. A wine that will benefit from decanting an hour prior to serving or cellar for 4-5 years. There is only one partner for this wine and it is a serious piece of beef.
