Description
Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia was born in 2004, the result of a joint venture
between Tempos Vega Sicilia and the Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild. Both
firms share the idea of making great wines in La Rioja, a unique, singular, inimitable winegrowing
region. After five years of terroir evaluation and the acquisition of 92 ha of vineyard, the project took
shape in 2009, with the first vintage of their two wines: Macán and Macán Clásico. Offering a modern and unique vision of Rioja following the Bordeaux model of a first and second wine. Macán is the winery´s flagship wine, produced from a meticulous grape selection, harvest from the best plots. Aged in French barrels for 16 to 18 months and further aged in bottle for at least three years before its release.

Smells
The perfumed bouquet is reminiscent of blackberries, raspberries with hints of cola, chocolate, spice and toasty, vanilla nuances.
Tastes
The palate is all about finesse, delicacy, and elegance, with flavours of fruit cake, cocoa powder, lavender, liquorice, and red and dark berries. The finish is persistently long, precise and with polished tannins that frame the fruit and tickle the cheeks. Age for 10 years+ or if you cannot resist, decant a couple of hours prior to serving.
