Pure magic in a glass, highlighting the class of Burgundy, an everyday drinking Pinot Noir from this iconic region where the top wines blow one’s mind and your wallet. The grapes are sourced from the Cote de Beaune which typically has vibrant red fruit flavours. And from the 2020 vintage which was warm, but the red wines are crunchy and dense with gorgeous, perfumed notes: a result of the limestone/clay soils. If you have never had Burgundy before, this is the perfect place to start.
Smells
incredible perfume; cranberries, raspberries, sandalwood, and cinnamon.
Tastes
Texture, texture and texture, the salivating, crunchy texture on display is what Burgundy is all about. Very different from NZ in that the fruit is linear and long and finely woven through the smooth tannins and acid, whereas NZ often is upfront, with a rounded fruity sensation. Worlds apart in distance and style, but both can be delicious. Perfect with braised and roasted meats or pasta.
